Tamao was born in 1987 in Japan and based in London. She received her B.F.A. with First Class Honours from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2018.

In 2018, Tamao had shortlisted in South London Gallery. Also she received a Prize at Artist in FAS, Fujisawa city, Japan. And she was selected as a residency artist by Espace des arts sans frontières, Paris (2016) and by Culture Voultures, Fez, Morocco (2016).
